Home care in Columbia, Maryland
Selectives Home Care provides non-medical home care throughout Columbia, Howard County’s planned community. We support older adults in every one of Columbia’s villages, helping people stay in the homes and neighborhoods they chose.
Serving Columbia and the surrounding area
We serve families across Wilde Lake, Harper’s Choice, Oakland Mills, Long Reach, Owen Brown, Kings Contrivance, Hickory Ridge, River Hill, Dorsey’s Search and Town Center. Columbia’s walking paths and cul-de-sacs are part of daily life here, and companion caregivers often build a walk to the village center or around the lake into a visit.
Howard County General Hospital, part of Johns Hopkins Medicine, is on Little Patuxent Parkway near The Mall in Columbia, and we can arrange care for people discharged home from there. We welcome inquiries about one-on-one care for people living in senior communities such as Vantage House in Town Center. Arrangements are confirmed with the resident and community before care starts.
Columbia is about thirty minutes from our Lutherville office. A coordinator travels there for the free in-home consultation, and where possible your caregiver is matched from the Howard County area so day-to-day visits are local.
Columbia turned fifty a few years ago, which means many of the people who moved into Wilde Lake and Harper’s Choice as young families are now in their eighties and nineties, often still in the original split-levels and townhouses. Those homes tend to have half-flights of stairs between living areas, and the interior-facing garages and shared parking courts matter for planning transport. We factor all of it into the care plan, and companion caregivers make good use of Columbia’s pathway network for a daily walk.
