About

Why families choose Selectives

When you are trusting someone with a parent or a spouse, adjectives don’t help. Here are the specifics.

Licensed, and you can check

Selectives Home Care is a licensed Maryland Residential Service Agency, license number RSA-02896, regulated by the Maryland Department of Health’s Office of Health Care Quality. That license carries real obligations: caregiver background checks, training, supervision, a written plan of care, and the right to file a complaint with the State if something goes wrong. You can verify the license directly with OHCQ.

Non-medical — and clear about it

We provide non-medical home care: help with bathing, dressing, meals, companionship, medication reminders, housekeeping and transport. We do not provide skilled nursing or medical treatment, and we will tell you plainly when what you need is a home-health nurse, therapy or hospice instead — and help you find it. Being clear about the line protects your loved one.

Locally owned, and someone answers

Selectives is owned and run in Maryland, not a franchise of a national brand. When you call, you reach a person here who can open your family’s file — not a call center in another state. The people who plan your care are the people you can get on the phone.

A written care plan you approve

Nothing starts until you have seen and agreed the plan. After a free in-home consultation — which includes a walk-through of the home for fall risks — the coordinator writes down exactly what help will be provided, when, and by whom. You approve it, and it changes only with your agreement.

Clear care agreements

Care agreements run for a minimum of three months, with two weeks’ notice required to cancel the agreement. Visits have a five-hour minimum and no weekly minimum. Please give 24 hours’ notice to change or cancel a visit; there is no late cancellation fee.

Care that can start quickly

Care usually begins within one or two days. Same-day care may be possible for urgent needs, including hospital discharge, depending on caregiver availability and the assessment.

Insurance and bonding status

Selectives maintains professional liability insurance and carries workers’ compensation insurance. Caregiver bonding is planned but not yet in place.

A free consultation, no obligation

The first conversation and the in-home consultation cost nothing and commit you to nothing. If home care isn’t the right answer, we’ll say so.

What we don’t do

An honest list is worth more than a long one:

  • We don’t provide skilled nursing, wound care, injections or medical treatment — we’ll refer you to a provider who does.
  • We don’t administer medication — caregivers provide reminders only; the person stays in control of their own doses.
  • We explain the minimum three-month agreement and cancellation terms before care begins.
  • We don’t promise a specific caregiver will never change — but we keep your team small and brief any cover on your plan.
  • We don’t claim ratings, awards or reviews we can’t show you.

Common questions

Is Selectives Home Care licensed and insured?

Selectives Home Care is a licensed Maryland Residential Service Agency (RSA-02896) and a Maryland Medicaid provider (No. 772588400) under the Community Options Program. Selectives maintains workers’ compensation and professional liability insurance. Caregiver bonding is planned but not yet in place.

Is there a long-term contract?

There is a minimum three-month care agreement, which you can end with two weeks’ notice. Individual visits can be changed or canceled with 24 hours’ notice, and there is no late cancellation fee.

How is Selectives different from a national franchise?

Selectives is locally owned and operated in Maryland. Your care is planned and coordinated by people based here, and when you call you reach someone who can see your family’s file rather than a national call center.

What happens if we need medical care, not just help at home?

We’ll tell you, and help you find the right provider — a home-health agency, therapy, or hospice. Selectives can continue providing the day-to-day non-medical support alongside that clinical care.
