Work at Selectives Home Care

Looking after people is real work, and we treat it that way — weekly pay, training, and a team that answers the phone when you need support. If you have a gift for caring for others, we’d like to meet you.

Why caregivers choose Selectives

  • Weekly pay, based on qualifications, experience and scope of work.
  • Flexible scheduling — full-time, part-time, weekends, evenings and live-in work available, built around the hours you can offer.
  • Four-hour orientation before your first shift and ongoing training every six months. Orientation and training are unpaid for current independent contractor roles.
  • Real support — a care coordinator you can reach, written care plans so you’re never guessing, and cover arranged when life happens.
  • A growing team — caregiver, CNA/GNA, live-in caregiver and care coordinator opportunities.
  • Work close to home — we aim to match you with clients near where you live.

Caregivers currently work with Selectives as independent contractors. Selectives coordinates their screening, training, care plans and scheduling.

Questions from applicants

Do I need to be a certified nursing assistant to apply?

Previous caregiving experience is preferred. Please list your CNA, GNA, CPR and First Aid certifications; we discuss the credentials needed for each role before assignment.

Is training provided?

Caregivers complete four hours of orientation and receive ongoing training every six months. Those supporting people with dementia receive additional dementia-specific training. Orientation and training are unpaid for current independent contractors.

Which areas would I work in?

Selectives serves multiple Maryland counties, including Baltimore City and Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard and Prince George’s counties, from an office in Lutherville. We aim to match caregivers with clients near where they live to keep travel short.

What happens after I apply?

For advertised openings, we aim to contact applicants immediately to discuss experience and availability. Next steps include an interview, screening, skills assessment and orientation before assignment.

What is the pay?

Compensation depends on qualifications, experience and scope of work. For current caregiver contractor assignments, the caregiver receives 80% of the client care rate and the agency retains 20%. Caregivers are currently paid weekly. We confirm the assignment rate before work begins.

Do you offer career advancement support?

We plan to introduce career advancement support as Selectives becomes established. A formal certification-support or advancement program is not currently available.
